Maxime Chattam was born in France in 1976. His youth was a time of travel, notably in the United States where a part of his family lives. He made his first steps as an actor before giving in to writing – initially with a play, then with novels. His background as a criminal science student provided the inspiration for his trilogy :“L’Ame du Mal”, "In Tenebris" and "Malefices". His new thriller, "Le sang du temps", which takes place in Cairo (Egypt).
