SLPRM by Sagem Défense Sécurité takes mission planning to a new dimension
The French air force has been using Sagem Défense Sécurité’s SLPM mission planning system for several years now. This air-transportable system integrates a number of key parameters, including terrain mapping, operational situation, flight data, etc. The mission summary prepared by the pilot is loaded into the aircraft’s nav/attack system using a transfer media. Today, the SLPM is gradually being replaced by the upgraded SLPRM, which also includes a mission playback function, as well as enhanced intelligence and attack planning functions. In particular, the SLPRM supports more modern weapons, such as Apache, Scalp and AASM cruise missiles. In addition, it’s a “multi-operator” system, since four pilots can simultaneously plan a given mission. It’s also worth noting that the system is totally integrated with air force or naval command networks, most notably on the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier.
The V1 version of SLPRM stations entered service in 2002. Today, this version is used by the French navy’s Rafale M and SEM (Super Etendard Modernisé) aircraft, and the air force’s Mirage 2000Ds. The V2 version, operational since December 2004 is designed for all other Mirage 2000s, plus the Mirage F1. Development of the V3 version is now being completed for the air force Rafale F2 standard, and will enter service in 2006. Looking further ahead, Sagem Défense Sécurité is gearing up for subsequent versions designed for the Mirage 2000 N-K3 and Rafale F3, and the new stores carried by these aircraft.
