Cenco International has announced the creation of Cenco Asie, a Singapore-based engineering and customer support center, at the Paris Air Show. The announcement is a good opportunity to spotlight this division of SAFRAN group company Techspace Aero, which is one of the world leaders in aircraft engines test cells and equipment.
At the last Paris Air Show in 2003, Techspace Aero announced the acquisition of Pratt & Whitney Cenco, an American specialist in test cells and services. Barely two years after this acquisition, Cenco has expanded its global presence to move closer to customers in Asia. This is undoubtedly a first step towards further expansion, most notably in India, which harbors very promising development potential for helicopter turbine test rigs.
Cenco International has four facilities operating under the same name, in Belgium, the United States, Russia and now in Singapore. These four facilities serve customers worldwide, including engine manufacturers, OEMs, independent repair shops, airlines and air forces. Cenco is also a systems integrator, capable of providing services combining its expertise in civil engineering, aerodynamics, acoustics and information technology. Because of this multidisciplinary expertise, Cenco spans all segments in its markets, including engine development stands, test cells and repair services, for even the largest civil and military jet engines, as well as turboshaft and turboprop engines.
There is also a good chance that Cenco will once again be in the news at the next Paris Air Show. Techspace Aero is a partner in the CF34-10, GP7200, Trent 1000 and GEnx engine programs, and Cenco is developing its Test Nacelle Equipment (TNS) to support the development of cowls, nozzles and air inlet ducts on the test cells used for these engines.
